We've been in the Real Estate business since our family came here in the 1920's boom. Oscar and Bill Gower took up the family business after the war as a second boom of retirees and tourists discovered the city of St. Petersburg and Pinellas County Florida.
Since 1974, sons George and John Gower have carried on the tradition. Elliot Wagner joined the firm in 2001, as St. Petersburg real estate began yet another boom. Now younger people are discovering the charms of the area.
The median age in St. Petersburg has dropped in the last 20 years from 64 to a young 39 and is still going down. Contributing to this influx are young families and a wave of remodeling/updating like never before.
The median price of Pinellas County homes sold through the Multiple Listing Service in December of 2004 was $217,800 and condominiums are $139,500. The 2004 average sales price of waterfront homes was just over $700,000 with a high of $3,775,000. At any given time there are about 4,800 homes and condo's listed for sale. Different neighborhoods each with unique character offer many choices.
